IYE-ABARIM

i-ye-ab'-a-rim (`iye ha-`abharim, "the heaps of the Abarim"; the King James Version Ije-abarim; in Numbers 21:11 the Septuagint reads Codex Vaticanus, Chalglei): A place in the journeyings of Israel named after Oboth, said to be "in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising" (Numbers 21:11), "in the border of Moab" (Numbers 33:44). The indications of position here given are not sufficient to guide to any identification, and, so far, nothing has been discovered in the district to help us. Called simply "Iyim" (the King James Version "Iim") in Numbers 33:45.
